Drei Zeitungs-Annoncen : Posse in 1 Akt, ca. 1875-1895.

Materials related to rehearsal and performance, including a published copy (Berlin: Eduard Bloch, n.d.; Eduard Bloch's Dilettanten-Bühne No. 69), which has been annotated as a prompt-book; and 4 handwritten role books, for the following parts: Patzke; Grieben; Krümel, Budiker; and Würmel, Bäcker. (The play has 2 other roles: Kunigunde, Patzkes Schwester; and Rieke, Dienstmädchen.) The published copy dates from around the mid 1870s (the Dilettanten-Bühne series is represented on the back cover up to no. 84). The page listing the characters in the published copy shows the cast of the play as performed at the Wallner-Theater in Berlin, with Helmerding playing the lead role of Patzke. In the context of the Learned Collection, it appears likely that the materials belonged to Theodor Bloch, who ran a theater lending library in Philadelphia from around 1880 to the mid 1890s, although they are not labeled as such (as would be more typical). They might stem from the late 1870s, before Bloch began his formal operation. The title is listed in the catalog for Bloch's library (dated 1886; see box 34). The materials appear well used, but only one actor's name is discernible, (Herr) Gerstel, on the role book for Würmel. (The collection's holdings of theater newspapers and playbills contain no reference to this play.)
